Duration : 65 days (International Arrival-Departure) Climbing period : 52 days Approach : Traditional South East Ridge |
| Mt. Everest has two main climbing routes, the southeast ridge from Nepal and the northeast ridge from Tibet, as well as many other less frequently climbed routes of the two main routes, the southeast ridge is technically easier and is the more frequently-used route. It was the route used by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953 and the first recognized of fifteen routes to the top by 1996. This was, however, a route decision dictated more by politics than by design as the Chinese border was closed to the western world in the 1950s after the People's Republic of China took over Tibet.
Most attempts are made during May before the summer monsoon season. As the monsoon season approaches, a change in the jet stream at this time pushes it northward, thereby reducing the average wind speeds high on the mountain. While attempts are sometimes made after the monsoons in September and October, when the jet stream is again temporarily pushed northward, the additional snow deposited by the monsoons and the less stable weather patterns (tail end of the monsoon) makes climbing extremely difficult. | | ITINERARY - Everest Expedition 8848m | Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to Hotel Day 02 Kathmandu Day 03 Kathmandu Day 04 Fly to Lukla trek to Phakding Day 05 Trek to Namche Bazaar Day 06 Namche for acclimatization Day 07 Trek to Tengboche Day 08 Trek to Dingboche Day 09 Acclimatization at Dingboche Day 10 Trek to Lobuche Day 11 Trek to Everest Base camp Day 12-57 Climbing period Day 58 Cleaning up Base camp Day 59 Trek back to Pangboche over night Day 60 Trek back to Namche Day 61 Trek back to Lukla Day 62 Fly back to Kathmandu Day 63 Free days in Kathmandu Day 64 Departure from Kathmandu | | | | | Cost includes:- 4 nights Hotel in Kathmandu on B/B
